Saucy as ever, Duwang Gang has released an updated version of its booty-bass opus “Hot Dog,” this time with “xtra relish.” “Hot Dog (xtra relish mix)” makes full use of ChupaWest’s Novation synth but also takes it way back to the beginning with bouncing ’70’s wah-wahs and actual (not programmed) woodblocks. But not to be outdone, Gretchen Walker (aka G-Rock, aka G-$$, aka etc., etc.) delivers the fast food goods once again, this time with a vocoder and an SM57 in hand (“strictly hand held, this is how it goes…”). Literally recorded in a bedroom off Sacramento St. in SF, with the 1 Cal line bus rumbling in the background.
